Assistive technology training
My blindness is not a limitation. It is my expertise. I know how assistive technology works, where things go wrong, and what it takes for technology to become a help. That is what I teach, to organisations and to individuals.
Who it is for: municipalities, employers, job centres, private persons and relatives.
Where: at your premises, at mine in Odense, or online.
Deliverables: plan, training, materials and follow-up.
Languages: Danish and English.
What you get
A plan with the number of sessions and the content, tailored to the need and the equipment.
Training in the assistive technology that fits the need, from someone who uses it himself.
Materials you can use afterwards, so what you learned sticks.
Follow-up until it works in everyday life.
Help applying for funding, grants and support schemes, where relevant.
Assistive technology I teach
- JAWS
- NVDA
- ZoomText
- Windows Narrator
- VoiceOver
- TalkBack
- iPhone and iPad
- Android
- Braille devices
- Talking watches
- GPS and navigation apps
Certified in JAWS and ZoomText by Vispero and NVDA Expert by NV Access, all passed in 2026.
I teach the assistive technology I use myself, every day.
No theory from books. The techniques are the ones that work on Monday morning, and we keep going until they stick.
For organisations and municipalities
- Courses for professionals. Social workers, IT staff, teachers and job consultants learn what assistive technology can do and how to support citizens and students properly.
- Advice on choosing assistive technology. Which compensatory aid fits the specific need? I advise and take part in trials.
- Municipal packages. Staff training and citizen training in one agreement.
For private persons and relatives
- Assistive technology training. Screen readers and magnification (JAWS, NVDA, ZoomText, VoiceOver, TalkBack, Windows Narrator), smartphones and tablets, braille devices, talking watches, GPS and navigation apps. We keep going until it sticks.
- Personal IT support. Custom setups and workflows that fit you, and help choosing the tools that give the most independence.
- Help with applications. Missing funding for equipment or training? I guide you through the application and help find grants and support schemes.
- Training for relatives. Family and helpers learn what the technology can do and how best to support.

How it works

Questions and answers
Where does the training take place?
At your premises, at mine in Odense, or online. Whatever suits the equipment and the learner best.
Do I need any prior knowledge?
No. We start where you are and keep going until it sticks. Some need one session, others need five.
Can the municipality pay?
Often, yes. I help with the funding application and with finding grants and support schemes where relevant.
Clients and cases
- Task
- Kommunikationscenter Sydfyn, the municipal communication centre, has blind and partially sighted citizens who need to learn their ICT assistive technology. I teach the citizens in their own homes, together with the municipality's vision consultants, for example VoiceOver on iPhone and audiobooks from Nota, the Danish library for people with print disabilities.
We have a really good collaboration with Edis on ICT cases. We greatly value Edis's commitment, expertise and ability to meet each citizen in a respectful and appreciative way. He is a valuable partner whom we trust greatly. We always find that our citizens are in safe hands with him, and they describe him as both inspiring and motivating in his teaching.
Hanne Rudbeck, vision consultant and occupational therapist, Kommunikationscenter Sydfyn, translated from Danish.

- Task
- Magnus was born blind and is autistic. I have taught him since 2021: touch typing, his computer and braille display, and VoiceOver on iPad and iPhone. We share an interest in music, so GarageBand came along too. The lessons follow a fixed plan, so there is structure and predictability.
I was born blind and have really enjoyed being taught by Edis, who understands how a blind person needs to learn to find their way around a keyboard, for example. Edis taught me touch typing and taught me to use my computer and braille display, and VoiceOver on my iPad and iPhone. I am autistic and have really valued Edis's understanding of the structure and predictability I need.
